Amidst the renovation of our iconic Temporary Art Center, Tom Swart steps into the role of director, succeeding Astrid Cats. Exploring themes of transformation, contemporary art, and the future of TAC as a cultural breeding ground and meeting place.
MEET TOM
Tom: “I have pursued studies in musicology and have been performing in Blaudzun’s band for 15 years. Prior to that, I held the position of director at Intro in situ in Maastricht, a center for contemporary classical music. However, my passion for visual arts has always been a driving force in my life. The boundaries between various artistic disciplines have become increasingly fluid over time. I am particularly captivated by sound artworks that encompass a visual dimension, as they possess a unique and exquisite beauty.
At TAC, we no longer strictly differentiate between a music hall and an exhibition space. Instead, we inquire about what the artist requires to showcase their work and adapt our technical setup and lighting accordingly. Our approach is to create a versatile environment that caters to the unique needs of each artist, seamlessly integrating their vision into our space.”
